You can never have too much ska smile

Alright, I think I hear what you mean. I'll change the bass up a little if I use this song in a release. That's great advice with the long notes, I've been implementing that in other songs and I should have thought of that here. It does sound somewhat congested. Thanks a ton for this CC Sketch! I plan to be writing a lot more ska-ish styled chip for future releases smile

Well, I'm not saying that dissonance is bad, just bringing it to your attention in case you weren't aware. If Dissonance is what you're going for then it's fine. I think it's cool when artists don't "play it safe" so to speak. The dissonance mostly occurs when the bass does the sliding and detuning effects. Bass clashes quite often. I feel like maybe there's too much going on with the 2xLSDJ or something, I don't know. It's not the harmony, it's mostly just the bass that clashes. For example, during the intro on every 4th measure the melody and bass are creating a tritone (I think. At least it feels like a tritone).  ~~~~~~~~~~~~ as far as the trailing notes are concerned... I think it is a good technique to use in moderation, but it just seems like it is used too much and too often here. Just my opinion. I'd recommend maybe having an attack that quickly decays to a quieter envelope that trails on at a lower volume to create more of a reverb/echo effect because, as it is, I'm not getting that effect from this. It just sounds like long notes, lol. To me the long notes make the mix feel congested and it takes away some of the "attitude" that makes reggae/ska appealing. Again, it's just my opinion. Coincidentally, I've been checking out a bunch of live ska and reggae videos this week big_smile On a more positive note, I really like the part where it gets into the 4x4 stepper beat smile

Oh dang, I thought I did alright with this song. The harmony in particular. Where do the notes clash to you?
Honestly I kinda like long trailing notes on the upbeat. It makes it sound sort of echo-y without actually using delay.
