Writing and recording lyrics for a few new songs. I need to get over being self conscious about my voice.

I just had to comment once more. This reminds me a little bit of No Doubt for some reason (I haven't listened to much of their music, though. Just two or three tunes). It'd make a cool ska or reggae tune.
Yeah. Self-consciousness can sometimes hold you back from really reaching your potential. The best way to get confident is to get in as much good quality practice and training as you can (obviously), or just take the "I don't care" rebel mindset, lol. ~~~~ I think the song is pretty cool, btw. Keep on keeping on.
