I'm working on a DMG paint job, and I'd like to go with a really bright color and a super glossy look.

This is basically what I want to go for:

I want it to be like a damn mirror. How can I get the DMG to have the smoothest glossiest texture possible? Should I just lay on a super thick gloss layer over the paint, or should I attempt to buff the actual plastic before painting? What gloss paint can you recommend? Thanks!

I would sand the shell down super smooth before applying any primer/paint/clear coat. Wet sand, tack cloth and make sure layers of primer/paint/clear dry well and evenly.

Gobbing on more paint will not produce the result you want. Wet sanding is absolutely critical, as well as patience and a very, very dust free environment.

That would be absolutely sexy

Start with a transparent DMG, as they have no texture to begin with.
I once sanded a red DMG smooth. It was a bitch...

I figured it would take some wet sanding, but I think it will be worth it. Thanks for the help. I'll try to post some pics here when I get it done (if I remember smile ).
