I was wondering if there's been much crossed with the music styles minimal techno and chipmusic, also how far people have utilised the custom sample function in LSDj.

I've been experimenting sampling a number of recorded percussive instruments, nanoloop sounds and non-instruments such as tapping the bark of trees and putting them into LSDj. The aim was to try and make the least game-like sounds in LSDj

The result was having a diverse range of samples to use in LSDj. This is an example of what some of it sounds like:- https://soundcloud.com/cs001/untitled-demo-1

What do others think, have others used the custom sample function a lot in LSDj?

This is fascinating. I have very little knowledge of LSDJ, but I'm going to look into the custom sample function now for future reference. I'm interested in making minimal techno with pedals and a sequencer in a live setting. I found the work of this gentleman: http://youtu.be/oWNMZVOnGT0 to be pretty thought provoking.

Thanks. cool, that was an interesting video. One way you can alter the groove of a track in LSDj changing it's default 6/6 groove to 8/4. You get more of a swing in the track.

This is a little article I wrote about sample manipulation in lsdj (focused on harsh noise but the techniques work for whatever) -> http://chipmusic.org/forums/topic/13733 … e-in-lsdj/

woww... this sounds interesting, but will come once i'll master to throw cool Pulse Basses and the custom waves thing... in a few decades then smile

but on the principle, it's a nice feature that could represent the ''last step'', that allows LSDJ to go further than LSDJ...

I released this earlier today. It's not exactly minimal, but its very sample heavy for an lsdj track.

Interesting sounds, enjoyed that demo track!

Most techno made on a gameboy is pretty minimal already by normal standards big_smile
