I downloaded the Mac OSX version of the software through the website and moved the file from the folder to my /user/local/lib, but I am lost from there. When I select the program, there is no window opening and then the icon on my dock appears and disappears quickly. Anything I am doing wrong?

Please download the pre-release of version 10 here:

It has some updates for Mac that could have fixed your problem.
