I can't seem to find this again. I saw a picture here (?) of a console with multiple carts sticking waaay up vertically from the console. Looked like a wet dream. Can anyone point me a link to this kind of stuff? Pics, threads, and wtf is going on with that all welcomed.

Quality post.

On a serious note though: I think what you are looking for is this, which is for the toploader Famicom.

It allows you to play music from the expansion chips in the carts that you insert along it, as well as the 2A03. You use it with 0CC Famitracker.

Ha! Thanks. Yes, sexy stuff. That is amazing.  So, it's a hardware extension to allow for extra sound choices, like a stack of synths and a midi contoller (rough analogy), or does It make more voices available at once? Is this crazy stuff from the early days, or is this something for the super advanced beings from another dimension? Any good links to a quantity of music from this stuff?
And that sega doom tower is sticking waaay up out of the console! I almost wish I had meant that.

Some NES games (or famicom games) have extra soundchips in the carts. Which basically mean more channels.

Vrc6 for example adds two pulse wave channels and a triangle to the already existing channels your famicom can use.
