Hey all!

So I was scrolling through meme central (aka Facebook) when I found this (obviously photoshopped) beauty.

It got me thinking. I'm sure you could tint a clear shell to any color like this.

My question is what method I should use, and what kind of dye would stick to the shell?

Thanks!

That looks neat and kinda reminds me of the atomic purple cgb shell.
Which would look great as a dmg shell IMO

I've done a bit of research and I found some spray tint that's meant for RC cars, but I can't find pics of it in action http://www.tamiyausa.com/product/catego … 00%7C61000

I've also seen people dye clear plastic in boiling water but that ruins the pot you use.

That may actually work. I have seen the Krylon xmetals going for more than these.

Yeah it's waaayy cheaper for sure and has a lot more variety. But then again, I still have no idea if it will be transparent or not.

That's exactly my thinking. Although finding the right method is hell. Boiling can work but it comes out much darker.

Why not transparent spray like this one: http://shop.molotow.com/en/Cans/Can-Spe … 400ml.html

That translucent spray sounds really nice.

I did this, and a couple others I can't find pictures of now, with RIT dye. Not recommended, I stopped even attempting this after I melted a few shells. sad

I melted my first try with RIT. Never again.

Same. Not worth the time, money, or stress.
