BATTLE CHALLENGE 2012

How Battling WORKS:
>BATTLE ONE
>>>>Round ONE
Challenger A will write an original 1 - 2 minute song in under 24 hours.

Challenger B will then write a "Counter" song (again within 24 hours), in an attempt to make a better song than the original BUT it still needs to feel like it was influenced by the first song.

A winner is decided by vote of peers (everyone else).
>>>>Round TWO
Challenger B  will write an original 1 - 2 minute song in under 24 hours.

Challenger A will then write a "Counter" song within 24 hours.

A winner is decided by vote
>>>>Round THREE
Who ever lost round 2 starts

Who ever won best of 3, moves to next bracket. Repeat.

Other Rules:
No file trading.
No limitation on hardware/software ALL FAIR GAME

This is all BY EAR. Which might be more challenging for some than others, but think of this as a fun exercise to get you writing more!

I don't really understand the premise. So the first guy writes a stem and then the next person listens to it and writes a stem of his own based off of it and et cetera? Or is it full songs?

I was thinking it would be write a 1-2 minute long song, and the next person writes a song that has a similar feel. That might be melody, rhythm, structure, pretty much anything really.
