Lyrics:

Including a (probably shitty) translation of "Kein Blut" that I wrote for a friend some days ago.

Kein Blut / No Blood

Wir sind keine Feinde! / We are no enemies!
Wir kennen keine Wut! / We don't know any anger!
Wir sind keine Feinde! / We are no enemies!
In unsern Adern fließt kein Blut! / There is no blood running in our veins!
Wir sind keine Feinde! / We are no enemies!
Wir kennen keine Wut! / We don't know any anger!
Wir sind alle Cyborgs! / We are all cyborgs!
Das Leben ist so gut! / Life is so good!

Draußen, frei von Hoffnung unterwegs. / Outdoors. On the move untained by hope.
Kein Code sagt mir es sei alles zu spät! / No code is telling me, that it will be all to late.
Die Mechanik funktioniert doch gut, / The mechanic is working well.
und auch mein Kontrollgerät! / And my control unit as well.
Meine haut aus reinstem Zellstoff,  / My skin made of purest pulp.
umgeben von dem feinsten Plastik. / Surrounded by the finest plastic.
Als Schutz gedacht bei hellem Tag, / Meant as protection on bright days.
phosphorisiert und leuchtet Nachts! / Phosphorizes and glows in the dark.
Wir sind keine Feinde, / We are no enemies.
wir sind nichts als finster! / We are nothing but sinister!
Wir sind der andern Diener, / We are servants of the other ones.
und gehn kaputt im Innern! / And we're going to break inside.
wir sind keine Feinde! / We are no enemies!
wir kennen keine Wut! / We don't know any anger!
Denn wir sind alle Cyborgs, / Cause we are all cyborgs.
und das Leben ist so gut! / And the life is so good!

Hey MegaLoler!

You could use LSDJsng FIles with the LSDJ Player which is available for free and free to use, but only works with old versions of LSDJ / old songs made with LSDJ. (Up to Version 3.5.1)
You can grab the player here. -> http://www.littlesounddj.com/lsd/latest/player/

I think it's easy to get LSDJsng FIles if you ask about it instead of GBS Files.
As far as GBS Files are really uncommon in the chipmusic scene. And more a known thing to the gaming scene.

The thing I can offer you is a ROM of one of my album releases that came out on a real cartridge.
You can find the free download verision here -> http://tronimal.de/wp-content/uploads/2 … _World.zip
or at gamejolt -> http://gamejolt.com/games/tronimal-hello-world/177161
(At gamejolt you are able to prelisten directly in your browser!) wink

It contains 8 songs that could be played on real hardware!

Have fun!

A yeah, if you want to use my music it's running under a CC-BY license. Which means free to use but name the artist.
If that's a problem, drop me a mail ([email protected]) and we'll find another way!

Didn't had to put you there.
You've been there for around one or two years! smile

You are already on the list. big_smile

Yes, I'm on facebook. The link is on that list as well!

Hey dualitymicro!
There are a few active people in germany.
I'm close to the netherlands, but not based in the north. I live in Wuppertal next to Düsseldorf.
But I travel around like every second week in whole Germany.

There are people from Hamburg, Bremen and Leer. If I remember right.

* You could also try to search here...
-> http://tronimal.de/chipmusik-de/
... a list with all (known to me) chipmusicians in germany.

Very nice! Thanks!

With the empty save files... how does that work? Every time you put a ROM on, you need to create an empty sav file as well, correct?

I think so, yes.
Or name an old SAV that way that it will depend to the ROM. wink

unexpectedbowtie wrote:

Anything else to watch out for?

I think it's always good to rename the ROMs. So that you don't overwrite something else because of the same name!

unexpectedbowtie wrote:

And... Can you load different savs for the same ROM, or is it always tied to one sav?

I'm not sure.
But if it works with only one sav, just double the ROM and rename it, like: LSDJ 4.9.1_1 and LSDJ 4.9.1_2. Same ROM with two diffrent names should handle this problem. (If it even exists!)

unexpectedbowtie wrote:

There are very few carts that support multiple .sav files I believe. The Everdrive does support multiple '.sav files', but... there's a caveat, in that with LSDJ, you can only have one song saved at the time (because of the architecture, that I don't fully understand).

LSDJ (and the Game Boy Camera for example) uses 128KByte sav Files.
Everdrive only supports 32 or 64 KB. That's the whole thing. It can't handle the sav!

unexpectedbowtie wrote:

I'm not familiar with the El Cheapo card enough to comment, but I can say that the EMS USB cart is perfectly fine and capable for writing and managing songs. I have three of them, and they are great.

Agreed. I use them myself.
But don't forget that you can hold multiple ROMs on El Cheapo SD as well.
So you could run many different versions of LSDJ. This is really interesting if you do work a lot with customs samples!
Or if you want to use old and new versions because of the difference in sample playback!

Bizcochitos wrote:

Here's my problem: I don't really know how flash cartridges work, I haven't found anything about it after some research and I'd like to buy a flash cart that works with LSDJ but also with some game boy games. (Only GB games, not gbc).

LSDJ and Games at the same time on one cartridge?
Then El Cheapo SD is your first choice!

Bizcochitos wrote:

I've seen that usb 64m smart card doesn't support multiple saves, does that mean I can only have one song on lsdj at a time?

No, that does mean that you have only one save file, for the whole cart.
So  you can't put two games (or software like LSDJ) onto one cart that have a save funktion.
Because you'll overwrite the save of the second game if you store at the first one.

For LSDJ only that means you can have one version of LSDJ with one save that can hold multiple songs. But don't put something else on the GB USB cartridge.

Bizcochitos wrote:

I found that BennVenn has released a "El cheapo SD flash cart" that can support multiple save files... but I haven't found a single guide that explains how to get the roms in the sd and make them work...

Not only multiple sav files, also multiple ROMs. That means many games and/or different versions of LSDJ on one cartridge at the same time! wink
It's all stored on a micro sd cart, should be hard to get stuff onto and off from it! wink

Bizcochitos wrote:

My question is: What is the best decission to make music out of the gb? El cheapo or Usb 64m? And if el cheapo is a better idea, does anyone have a tutorial that explains how to make things work(put roms into the cart, manage save files...)? I'm a little bit lost and I'd like to buy the best option.

Both will work, as written above. If you want to hold games on the cart at the same time go for El Cheapo SD.
If not, it doesn't really matter. It might be a decision of trust to SD Cards then...

Krustenviech wrote:

Nanoloop one also uses the Gameboy internal music chip and would cost 28$?
So that would also be an alternative if I like the interface more?

Absolutely right! wink

Would be a little more than 28, cause of Tax and shipping. But yes!

*I think it's out of stock a the moment, but it usually comes back after a few weeks.
But maybe oliver could tell more abut that! smile

Hi!

Hey Kruste! big_smile

Krustenviech wrote:

I've a GBA micro, GBA SP and a pocket.
Now i'm deciding whether to buy a DMG or use my micro for tunes.
And then which nanoloop to buy.

That (GBmicro, GBA SP VS DMG, Pocket) will make a totally different sound!

Krustenviech wrote:

I was also thinking of using lsdj.
Is there any difference in the style of music you can make with nanoloop or lsdj or is it just are they just different tools which can produce the same output?

It is all different.
Nanoloop1 VS LSDJ = Same Plattform (DMG) but different possibilities and sound if you get into it.
Nanoloop2 = Uses GBA to generate sound. Uses a totally diffrent technique to generate sound. So sounds diffrent of course.
Nanoloop Mono = Analog synth powered by the Game Boy. Has totally diffrent sound because it has kind of nothing to do with the internal sound from the actual machine!

Krustenviech wrote:

Hope my question are understandable big_smile

Yeah! *"Auf deutsch wär's leichter!" big_smile

Krustenviech wrote:

The main sound i would like to get is a real Gameboy style gaming chippy sound. Don't know how I could describe it in any other way.

So Game Boy (DMG) might be the way to go! big_smile

Krustenviech wrote:

So I thought that lsdj may be better.
Since i used nanoloop only on my phone i couldn't say if it was because of the hardware.

LSDJ has much more possibilities in sound and song design.
Nanoloop is really great for making (live) techno and stuff like that. *Pattern based music.
(I have use LSDJ, nanoloop and NL2, all for a while now...)

Krustenviech wrote:

Don't get me wrong, i did read a lot before I asked here and i saw that the DMG is the best one to get good sound (http://www.herbertweixelbaum.com/comparison.htm). But I didn't get any answers on the net for the nanoloop/lsdj debate depending on the sound I want to produce and if it depends on the software too.

To answer that you have to describe what you want to do in more detail. wink
But i think you might choose LSDJ or nanoloop1 at the end!
*If that's easier for you in german language just write me an e-mail. [tronimal(at)web.de]

Krustenviech wrote:

Different question: the best way to get lsdj to a DMG is the 64M card + Rom for a hell lot of more money than the nanoloop mono?
So DMG + LSDJ is about 100€?

There are many diffrent Flash cartridges that would work out.
For example EMS 64m GB USB, BennVenn's El Cheapo SD, the Drag n Derp and even more...

Your math is a bit strange here.
You add the DMG in cost to LSDJ but not to nanoloop? Why that?

Nanoloop 1 = 28 €, without Tax etc
Nanoloop 2 = 49 €, without Tax etc
Nanoloop mono = € 69, without Tax etc

Flash cart = 30-100€, depends on which flash cartridge you choose
LSDJ = almost free.. I think it's "pay what you want" nowadays.

DMG = ???€ (in Austria)

Krustenviech wrote:

Thats a lot of money and that's the reason I'm thinking of staying at my GBA micro + nanoloop 2.
Especially because I'm at the beginning.

I don't really agree. It's quite less for a music instrument. But it might be (or feel) much for Game Boy purposes! wink

Krustenviech wrote:

The only reason to invest in a DMG+LSDJ is if it's the only way to get that old gaming sounds.

Don't forget that you already own a Pocket!
And what about nanoloop 1 and DMG?
