Can someone tell me how long the socket is that has to go into the DMG? I got another one and the metal part sticks out the DMG a bit, maybe that's why it has sometimes a bad connection...:

Too long shouldn't be a problem. A shorter one might give a bad connection.

The problem is most likely the USB cable you are using, not the connector itself.
