hi, I´m have the same issue about losing the shades with the bivert chip, can anyone help me? also my bivert chip is so tiny, I see a lot of pics with bigger chips, maybe there are another chips I can use. I did the backlight with the resistor and that´s OK, but contrast is low, handheld legend told me is working on a (no need to solder) chip, maybe I should wait before i break another DMG (allready broke one).

sad

Needs pics of chip, location and nearby components.
IIRC, the common place for a bivert chip is near that 2x3 block of through holes, right? Grounding one of these will effectively remove two shades from the disply. I believe they are the screen data pins. Careful near that location.

I think maybe i replace the chip, because is so tiny, pics may not help because I cover the chip with hot glue (gun) to protect the solder points.

I´m looking for a bigger, cheaper, chip i can get in any store (argentina) to do this mod fawless.

thanks for the reply

Have you asked on the handheld legend forums? He's normally pretty good about getting back to people.

I definitely need another chip, I accidently broke pin 6, is the second one, to tiny, to hard to solder, a bigger chip, the cheapest the better, thanks!

Pin 6 is an output, leave it hanging and choose another gate:
