[SOLVED] - someone did this in order to fix a busted trace.  Weird to find something like this at a flea market, though!

Hey so I bought an NES at a flea market.  Opened it up to clean and mod and what not and found this mod already in place.  I have no clue why anyone would want to do this and I've never seen anything like it.

It's PIN17 (it appears to be) of the Expansion Port hooked to one of the PINs from the SN74HC368N.  The system itself is busted (definitely needs a new 72 PIN connector) so I can tell if has any effect.  I was just so surprised to buy a random console that seemed to be already modded - especially a console modded in a way I've never seen before.

Pretty sure that is not a user fix. You'll find that in every nes.

It's not in any of the ones I own now or have in the past.

Yep, not in any PAL model that I currently own either.
