PCB Mount Pro Sound pre-orders have started at http://shop.apeshitmods.com

Quick update with these:

The board was altered slightly to make the installation slightly easier and cleaner.

The jacks went up in price once again, but the price will remain the same on the kits.

It is unlikely that I will continue to sell these kits after the pre-orders are done. They are simply too expensive to make, and I can't afford to purchase any extras without pre-payment. If these are sold in the future, they will most definitely cost more than the pre-order price.

So if you would like a kit, a pre-order may be your only chance to get one, at this price at least.

This is very awesome. I may never have a use for this but I think it's very cool you are getting these produced!

Thank you,

These most definitely aren't for everyone. But the people that like them, like them a lot.

I just have bad "modder's OCD" as I like to call it. Just like how some people refuse to use glue, I just don't like panel mount stuff. I'll use it when necessary, but I like to avoid it if possible.

Oh yea, I mean if they were more affordable I would buy 50 of them. But $1.50 for a panel mount beats about $20.
I still may get one of these for one of my own and if you end up continuing to make these then I will definitely offer them on my commissions.
I think rebuilding parts of the Game Boy is so much cooler than just modifying the thing!

If they were more inexpensive to make, it'd be great to have them fully replacement panel mount. This isn't just me being cheap either- The jacks I use cost about 5 times as much as a panel mount jack alone, and the price just keeps going up.

I don't think it's too bad though. These cost way more to make than backlights, and some people sell backlights for up to $20.00 or more.

These are some things I've made for my mod service. I thought I'd offer them to other DIYers. These kits are not required to do the mods, but I have made them because I don't like using glue, tape, perf board, or other such things with my commissions.

Biversion Kit: $6.00 or 5 for $25.00

Circuit board with a SMD 'bivert chip' mounted on it. The purpose of this kit is to conserve space, avoid shorts, add durability, and defeat the need for glue. Glue isn't even required to keep the circuit board in place, two component legs on either side do the job just fine.

Underclock Kit: $14.00

Includes a switch to toggle between the two speeds and a little circuit board to mount the crystals as well as the half speed crystal. Perf board is usually too thick to use the stock crystal, so this is a great alternative. It's also more compact and cleaner looking than using wires or component legs to do the circuit.

Prices don't include shipping. Contact me at apeshitmods (at) gmail [dot] com if you're interested.
