Hello again, chipmusic.org.

From my site:

VegaPlay - Back in 2007 I created Vegavox, the first NES music album on a cart, for Alex Mauer. Now you can do the same. VegaPlay is an open source multi-song NSF playback ROM. Click here to download it!

Enjoy! And check out the rest of my open source NES software available here: http://www.no-carrier.com/software.html

Can you make a version that allows you to import images to be shown while your tune is playing as well? big_smile

Well, this was released to be slim - so it can accommodate NSF's of various sizes. However, it could easily be combined with the source code of galleryNES (also by me, also open) to do something like that! It all depends on the size and number of NSF tracks and pictures.

This is brilliant. Making a crossover of galleryNES and this would also be great - it'd make it much easier for NES based artists to release their tracks on carts and as nifty roms.

Again, kudos for bring this to the people.

Mmm, so excellent. Another use for the ever-versatile NROM cartridge! I dunno if I'll ever get a chance to meet you in person, but it'd be a real honor.

OH, and my big thanks goes to you for making this Open Source! Alot of people here can't imagine how awesome this is that it's all GPL, and as a hardcore GPL junkie for several years I thank you most heartily for the source code so generously provided. If only all the other awesome tools for the chipscene were GPL, like LSDJ or NanoLoop, this place would really be busting at the scenes.

i wanted to bump this to ask a question.

first of all, vegaplay is amazing. but i'm curious, is there a way to not have the songs play automatically? like, you have to hit A to make them play?

i have a project i'm doing now and this would be a perfect way to play the songs i have but i'd like to have a way to make the song stop, then choose another song, and then hit play, when the moment is right.

is there any way to do that with vegaplay or is there another solution anyone can recommend? thanks!

That's very possible. Do some reading up on 6502 assembly and starting looking through the code, which is commented. When I have some time we can meet on IRC and I can show you how to do it.

Look at these books here: http://www.bombjack.org/commodore/books … Y_LANGUAGE

Specifically, this one: http://www.bombjack.org/commodore/books … e_6502.pdf

i'm about 30 pages in to that second link right now. thank you so much for posting it. i've been wanting to learn about this stuff for a while but didn't know how to start. very awesome.

i'll try to figure it out on my own for a while and then post back here with what i've figured out. thanks again!

That book is really, really good. Glad you dig it, man.

I'd be happy to help you figure it out, but like I said - I think IRC or AIM is better than a message board. Do you ever go on #chipmusic?
