Surprised, I thought you made music at least once on every computer available to mankind, worldwide, ever smile

The SAM is a very cool machine, but ultimately another machine that sounds like anything you can do with a Speccy or Atari ST (save for extra voices tongue)

OK , OK, I am just trying toconvince myself not to buy yet another computer i will hardly use tongue I always wanted a SAM

Oh,m this is interesting:

(came in) their Sound Blaster 1.0 cards (also 1.5 and 2.0 if you added it on). However that card also had an OPL2 chip (aka YM3812), which became much more popular.

That would be awesome, OPL2 + one of these? I wonder if any sotware came hat uses these SB1.0 cards to the full potential!

The problem with the SB1.0 is that I think there is NO software that uses it to its fullest, like an adlib tracker but for PSG+FM.

I have send email to author of SamCoupe emulator SimCoupe. So He will do WAV rendering into next SimCoupe release... So you will have ultimate tool for SAA tracking...

Okay so my SAA 1099 chips arrived yesterday! Woo!

I made a MIDI interface for the chip, with control over all of the registers via MIDI CC including:
• panning
• expression (volume)
• all envelope registers
• all noise-related registers
• musically sensible pitch bends

SAA 1099 channels are mapped to MIDI channel 1 to 6.

I'm thinking of getting a couple of PCB boards made up at some stage - would anyone be interested? Just a thought...

Cool beans, it sounds really sweet man. It would be very nice to have a little Midi enabled board as you mentioned. Cool work

Jeez your unstoppable little-scale!  I'd be in for a PCB for sure.  Would this include any kind of a control surface, or would it just be a magic MIDI box?

Well, what sort of control surface did you have in mind? Do you think it is necessary for a device like the SAA 1099?
