Midnight Can't Decide

By CHROMEGOLD on Aug 9, 2015 12:28 am

Hey everyone. Some of you may know my past work under the name FTF.
I haven't been making music for the past few years for all the wrong reasons. I decided to make some changes to my life and moved from where I was living in Alaska to Missoula, Montana.

Making new stuff now and much more to come.
I really hope you enjoy it. I dont mind any harsh criticism and would love to hear any thoughts on it.

LSDJ+FL STUDIO

Lyrics:
Feels so right. Midnight can't decide.
What I do when it's light. Where I can confide.
This dark cool cabin it comforts me.
These walls they whimper, "end the silence in me."

Feels so right. Midnight can't decide.
What I do when it's light. Where I can confide.
This dark cool cabin it comforts me.
These walls they whimper, "end the silence in me."
Can't hear the silence, I can't here the silence.
The walls get louder, jet-black endless and silent.
Sirens they speak towards the walls of wisdom.
Did he miss the bus, or was it the bus that missed him?

Fear is unavoidable. You face it each day.
You gotta do your best though, you gotta shake it away.
These troubles and trials, dont act with denial.
I faced my fate though, I walked every mile.
I plant my feet, like your family trees
The lives that you touch are touched more than you mean.
Awake my thoughts, mind finally breathes.
Back on the clock, my dream was more than serene.

Feels so right. Midnight can't decide.
What I do when it's light. Where I can  confide.
This dark cool cabin it comforts me.
These walls they whimper, "end the silence in me."

Feels so hot, turn the A/C on.
Drifting through dust viewing nebulas.
A few months of sleep will do the body some good.
A few drops of this will put you right where you should.
A few nights will pass and it is understood
That once light enters is is gone for good.
But it's always been theory and speculation.
I'm lightyears from my destination.

It feels so right
What I do when it's light
This dark cool cabin
and walls they whimper

Yeah these walls they whimper

Feels so right. Midnight can't decide.
What I do when it's light. Where I can confide.
This dark cool cabin it comforts me.
These walls they whimper, "end the silence in me."

And these walls they whimper

Thanks for the input guys. Rapping is something totally new to me so I don't expect my timing to be perfect right away. Did the vocal sections in one or two takes tops for this recording. Have been practicing regularly and been improving steadily.

Yes, some of his singing sounds a bit off-key... But, I thought that was just his style for this song. A lot of rap and hip-hop has off key singing. And I just thought that CHROMEGOLD was trying to imitate some of that style. That's why I did not have any problems with it, personally.

Sounds like you're struggling to keep up with the pace of the music, stumbling over words occasionally. Flow getting thrown off... singing is a bit off-key sounding... But it's pretty cool anyway. Good stuff. Work on your flow, do some mouth exercises to get those muscles limbered up.

Ah thanks, and actually, I think the lyrics are good. They are thought provoking, and poetic. Kind of encouraging in a way since I'm going through some rather dark times myself. sad

Now, I think your lyrics sound clear and are recorded well. I have always had audio processing problems with music since I was 6 years old in the early 90's. That's just my brain. Anyone can sing as clear as possible, and I'll probably miss a few words. You did fine, though! You recording was very clear, I'm certain of that.

Your rhythm and rhyming were solid as well. Again, thank you for sharing this!

Thanks the critique. I am using a cheap mic and I'm very new to recording vocals and rapping as well, so that may also explain why the vocals arent so clear.
I added lyrics to the description.

I can't hear all of your lyrics. That's probably my fault because of my audio processing disorder. My brain is not able to separate words from music very well. Do you have a link to your lyrics?

Otherwise, it's a very unique sounding "nerdcore". In terms of style, I kind of like it, and I'm not normally a rap or hip-hop fan. Very interesting tune here. I don't really have any criticisms. This song sounds much more intelligent than the mainstream junk heard on the radio. And I like 25% Pulse waves. smile
