If this song seems like it would have been funny like so 6 years ago... well, that's because it was written in 2008!
The original premise of the vocal is about meeting people online, developing a relationship, and then meeting them in person and being really disappointed! In retrospect, I don't actually draw much of a distinction between online and IRL relationships anymore, but at the time I probably thought it was pretty humorous. We used to joke that this song was about people falling in love through World of Warcraft.
