Crimson City

Crimson City

By SilverGhoul on May 17, 2014 2:47 am

This is a song I composed for a game I'm making; it plays during one of the levels in the game, called "Crimson City". It's one of my first songs, and it was completed using LSDj.

Sorry I didn't see your comment earlier, haven't been here in a while.

My game is called The Legend of Pon. It's a 2D platformer inspired by the Mega Man games. You play as Pon, a citizen of a faraway land ruled by a Corrupt King, and your objective is to retrieve Four Sacred Fruits from across the land. Each Sacred Fruit is located at the end of a level (which includes 2 zones   a boss fight), and Pon receives a new power to use against opponents whenever he acquires and eats a Fruit. For example, one of the Fruits gives him fire-breathing abilities while another one allows him to emit an electrical pulse that stuns enemies. The Four Fruits can be collected in any order, and the abilities he acquires from eating the Fruits will help him beat other levels. Once he collects them all, Pon is able to travel to the Dark Castle and slay the Corrupt King.
Gameplay-wise, it's similar to other 2D platformers. You start with 3 lives and can get more by collecting 100 Gold Shards per life, and you have a health bar that can be replenished by eating Life Mangos that are found throughout the levels. You start off with the ability to fire a short laser out of your arm, but it's pretty weak. Switching between your abilities (after acquiring them) is easy to do in the heat of combat, and by the time you're at the final level you're a pretty badass wrecking ball of pain.
Unfortunately I'm not very close to being done, I have one level finished and a very clunky demo build, but the rest of the levels are in the early phases of development. This is the only music for the game I have, except for the level select screen and a song that I'm not gonna share yet (because it would give away a secret)! If anyone is interested in trying my game out when it's done, please let me know via PM and I'd be happy to give away free copies when it's finished. If anyone wants to try out the demo level Crimson City (featuring this song), I'd be happy to share that too.

Sounds great. Tell me more about this game.
