someone （China） developed this LCD

Bump on this Does anyone know what to do with the DMGs that the lcd  doesn't work it on anymore?
Been trying to figure out if I can connect to an external display with it.

Any comments or suggestions

You could turn it into a stand alone TV console with my DES board (NES controller input), or add my VGA module to give the DMG a vga port to connect to a TV... You can also fit a GBA LCD to the DMG with my SP-Converter board, both backlit, frontlit and original LCD. These are just some of the available options.

its a backlit design

but the LCD component isn't as drop-in replaceable as you're thinking. 

it'll end up being a whole front PCB replacement.  the ribbon cable will plug into the CPU PCB.

everything on the front....  replaced.  there will be a couple+ versions, with varying levels of features... 

there is a FPGA involved

and about EVERY type of manufacturing you can imagine.  and the parts all have to FIT!!!!  ahhhhhh!

What ever happened to this? i have 2 dmgs with messed up ribbon cables. i just need two new front pcbs and they will be back from the grave.

i think alot of people would really use these so called updated front pcb panels.

I've seen videos (timbob?) of video out from super gameboy to the DMG's LCD, and I believe another video showing the LCD PCB of the DMG outputting video to a MGB screen.

What I did with the super gameboy is technically not video out.

Since the SGB is already a gameboy I just had to connect a screen to it. (Same goes for the mgb basically)
To get a real video out you'd have to translate the data to something a tv or LCD can understand.
But kitsch is already working on it so it seems

my cost is already higher than the $10 case cost though...  so it will be more, yeah.

in terms of availability:  i think the lead-time for batch production is 2 weeks, but i haven't looked at that info in so long now i'll need to double-check.  that's if I don't roll them together and overlap batches.

but in all reality, because this isn't funded except by KB shop goings-on, there will be a one-color-at-a-time deal for a little while, with some sort of gap in between batches.
