i do most of my composing on the train to and from nyc, and do a lot of stuff with Sunvox and an lsdj on a nintendo ds lite. But i really want to be able to dig down deep into those SID sounds.

It's not a basic program. If Apple allowed c64 emulators, you could run a real c64 tracker, but they don't unfortunately.
