wanting to get it hosted and released in somewhat of a coordinated fashion, and not have dribbles of revisions around which might confuse people looking to build it (and via sites devrs frequent much more than my own, or cm.o for that matter)

i'm serious about the need to include them on a schematic which will be read by people of all sorts of different levels.  i guess i've learned that its better to approach things as if the reader/viewer knows absolutely nothing about what you are talking about. 

not to assume people are dumb, just that their knowledge base may not be the same. 

but, its already been taken care of, i realized i simply needed to have two on there to show how its done and then everyone can do with it what they will.  people to whom its the most obvious thing in the word can just see it, maybe someone who knows nothing can learn from something that simple

@thebitman...  #7, just to make sure i'm reading you right...  you mean having a thru hole right next to the solder pads of SMT parts?  or, would having extra long solder pads work since you can solder fly wires to them easier like that?  i'm a touch confused, i think i'm seeing something in my head you don't mean...  in short (just from an ease-of-PCB-design perspective) adding two rows of thru-holes/vias unnecessarily is a lot of mess you'll curse throughout the routing.  keeping them on one side (with longer solder pads perhaps, or some variant of this) would be much easier. 

and, your #6.  it'd need to be a breakout PCB with the SMT fram on it, with swiss pins or something acting like a socketable IC.  its possible...  someone else mentioned switchable fram up above...  sort of echoes something jazzmarazz was wanting (i think, not looking).  multi-sav support is what it sounds like this boils down too, right?  or, do you literally want to be able to physically swap the fram?  and, why?  (just for curiosity's sake)

For #7 I should redact my statement and insist on solder pads. Easier to deal with
As far as #6 goes, easy multi-save as well as the ability to, say, create an FPGA-to-SRAM/FRAM socket interface, may be cool for debugging or creating custom code in the future with the aid of custom homebrew ROMs

i'm also wanting to consider the feedback from here before finalizing it, so i'm sort of sitting on my hands for a second, listening. 

not right now, but soon.  and some changes are in pencil still, so ya know...
