I live in MN, and it's overcast and basically horrible for more than half the year, and I've done this on a winter's day when we don't get too much UV, and it's worked OK. You don't need bright overhead sun, just as long as it's not dark as the side of Mount Doom...

Yes, it does.

I ended up doing mine, almost in it's entirety. When I got back inside to reassemble it, I realized I forgot to take out the connector port insert and add it into the solution. Upon comparison of that piece with the rest of the shield, there is a MAJOR difference.

Mine only had the slightest tinge of yellow to it, and the outside photograph didn't really do any justice, but I never realized how much of a difference an inside photo would make. I'll (hopefully) be posting the new photographs for the grey DMGs within a weeks' time.

Other than that, you've got nothing to lose, since this could only benefit your shell.

I wanted to post in here, that I'm currently attempting this method with 3-4 DMGs I have. Some are nice and clean, which I'll still attempt to clean using this method (just to see the results), and I have a few that are either badly stained, or half-and-half. I'm taking photographs of each DMG case, before and after, and I'll be posting the supplies I use and whatnot, and how much of each. You're welcome to add the information or photos to your existing tutorial if you'd like, otherwise, I'll just be creating a downloadable PDF for anyone to download for their own personal use and convenience.

Here's a short article about active ingredients in OxiClean.

So, anything you can find with an ingredient list similar to these chemical will probably work fine.

To be safe, test it on something with an eyedropper first and all that.

I've got some DMG cases I should clean up like this as well, so I'm glad you revived the thread and asked! Good luck! smile

What I would say is, rather than ordering the stuff on eBay, go to the local pharmacy or grocery store or walmart or what have you, and ask where the hydrogen peroxide is. It doesn't matter what kind of purity it is, just so long as it's 3%.
