Nonfinite just released a new v5 version of their DMG/Pocket backlight. From the demo video, it looks incredibly bright. I've installed a few of their v3's and I didn't run into any issues pretty straightforward. They are claiming the v5 is even easier to install, which might be of interest.

Here's that comparison video:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3uww_oJ6T5U

Easiest to install are the all in one units with polarizer and resistor "built in". My personal favorite is the density ones. I don't feel i have to be as careful, plus you don't have to cut the plastic around the lcd (which really isn't hard to do). I also like that I can easily change or replace wires.

"Best" for visibility is probably going to be the EL panels. I have never used these.

I'm now looking at modding my own DMG and I was just wondering what was generally considered the best backlight to fit; there seems to be many different variants from many different sites for around the same price and its hard to differentiate them by looking at pictures online.

Any help appreciated

Lux
