I at one point experimented with making a song ENTIRELY in the S channel; it sucked, but I got a weird little kick drum and bleep-bloop snare sound out of it that I forget how to replicate.... Other than that I only know how to use the noise channel for drums, but if someone else knows a better tip please share.

Yeah, shitbird is almost always nanoloop 1.xx with vocals on top.  He's really amazing at making crazy melodic progressions that don't "sound like nanoloop" at all!
