Just a update on those cheap carts.
A selection of carts have arrived and I'm adding support to the Joey to re-write them. Specs for the cheapest LSDJ suitable cart are:
2Mbytes Flash ROM
128kbytes SRAM, accessable as a single 128k block (As required by LSDJ)
MBC5 mapper, up to 512 banks.
Replacable lithium coin cell for RAM retention.There is a little bit of work to do on the carts before they are flashable, removing the TSOP48 Flash IC, cutting and routing a few traces, re-soldering. I was hoping this wouldn't be necessary.
The price target remains the same, about half that of existing BV carts. If there is enough interest - (pre-orders?) - that would allow me to drive the price down further by saving more on shipping, maybe even to the $10/cart price point.

It is really great to be able to plug, drag and drop the .sav file, and you're done.But I got some problems with windows 7:

Has any one tried on Windows 10? Gonna pick up a rig this weekend with Windows 10 -.-

But I got some problems with windows 7:

]]>Don't know how's today dev on the EMS carts, but the flasher software doesn't work on Windows 8. I have to use a virtual machine running WinXP to backup, flash, etc.
Have you tried ems-flasher command line on windows 8?

Also, I may have found a cheaper source of flash carts. I've got some inbound for testing. If all goes well I'll have 1, 2 & 4 mbyte carts with 128k + 256k SRAM for half the price of existing BennVenn carts.
I'd definitely be interested in purchasing one of those carts if all works out!
