Battery Powered Music started as a series of inspired conversations, late night jam sessions, and months of headphone composition and production.  Local chef and secret electronic music mad scientist, Jesse Garcia, Elias Foley and an evolving cast of engineers, players, technicians and producers took these ideas and have been expanding upon them using ensemble based improvisation and collaborative development.  Now entering our third month at Backspace.  For questions or info contact 503-504-2899 or elias@easystreet.net.

The evening is a battery powered music ensemble jam with an open mixer (like and open mic for battery powered music producers).  The "jam" is drum circle v2.0, the atmosphere is inclusive, fun and inviting (and at times and epic mass of grinding handheld techno).  Certain nights will feature solo artists and/or smaller groups but it is all within the context of an open space of structured improvisation and collaboration.  I will be recording and podcasting highlights from the nights on a regular basis, too.
