Mathews wrote a language called MUSIC and is the first to write a program for computer music. The process was so slow, the music could not be heard in realtime. And nuances were lacking. Mathews became a figure in history of computer music. The music program MAX/MSP is named after Mathews. Mathews wrote the accompany to the speech synthesis of a vocal rendition of &quot;Daisy&quot; (Bicycle Built for Two), which inspired the movie &quot;2001: A Space Odyssey&quot;.</p>]]></content>
