Also Johan usually fixes any bugs in new versions very very quickly.

Nanoloop is a totally different matter though, different versions can have really unique features.

personally, I use 3.9.9 generally because I like the noise channel format better than the 4+, and I have one cart with 3.7.9 for some older songs because for some reason certain wav instrument sounds different in later versions. not huge differences though

Unless you're using the MIDIOUT feature or playing back really old, very complicated songs that were made to be played on an old version, there's no reason to use anything older.
