Not sure I agree with their placement though. My scieneguy adruinoboy is powered by the link port. Doesnt drain the batteries that much.

Could just use the 5v source on an MGB, but it would probably draw too much current, especially with an EMS cart or backlight. Also fitting the MIDI jacks in isn't really possible without some sort of adapter, and at that point, it might as well be external.

On my side i'm currently converting the arduinoboy code to run on a teensy (http://www.pjrc.com/teensy/index.html) (current status : i got the LSDJ Slave mode working, started tonight)
the teensy is very small too and it use USB for the midi connection. (USBMidi)
