As far as original compositions go, Fearofdark's "an age of planetary pride" has a classical bent to it, and it ends with a pretty nice fugue (I think its a fugue)

I did some Mozart a bit ago. Translating musical notation into famitracker's syntax and putting my own creative spin on sections during the process was a fun experiment.

Mixing chip and classical music has been an idea that's interested me for a while. I don't listen to much classical music per say, I really like Pachabele's Canon ('scuze the poor spelling) and was thinking of doing an arrangement of it, but realized it wouldn't sound as god as I'd like. I had an idea that you could have multiple consoles/peices of software playing at the same time, to recreate an orchestra.

The Parodius series' arrangements of classical pieces are legendary - the Konami sound team pretty much defined the pinnacle of chipmusic (or SFC music at least) in their era:

Koribjenki (or what is it called?) is an old folkloric song, but arranged to opera, adopted by the rad army choir and later adopted by Tetris. Same goes for kalinka, used in some versions of tetris.

Some guy has a requiem for a dream remix I found really great (think he was Italian).

Also: tons of respect for Divag for a baroque song on http://www.dataglitch.org/#release0002. "Medievol" Amazing track. But I don't know if it's a remix or not. It's insanely good either way.
