heartcode was my introduction to the chip world!

Sad news indeed! My favorite compilation of chipmusic is Heartcode (despite being a bit old). Pause is still the label people should strive for, in a sense of maintaining the regularity and the high level of releases.

And I agree with Peter! It might not be that easy, but still anyone who wants to make a chip netlabel should look for Pause to learn something. I sure learned.

Not trying to diminish any of Pause's achievements, just trying to light a fire under any newcomers!

this is really too bad, but healthy as well i think.  how many netlabels can (or even ought to) run forever?

here's hoping that this pruning will spur some interesting developments elsewhere.   big ups to the Pause guys for running a netlabel of quality and integrity.

Dont think of them as foundations, think of them of ripples that started with a single moment, a moment than any one of you could easily replicate. Pause is great and its awesome that the people who run it now have their own careers and trajectories to follow. Good luck to everyone invovled in their ongoing global dominances.

Too many feels, the things i considered to be the foundations of the chips scene when i first found it are all slowly saying their goodbyes, it's a bitteeeerrr sweeeet symphoooonyyyy....

At least they will keep it online...(The opposite of Megatwerp !)

As of June 4th, 2013, and with the release of our 100th offering, Pause has officially decided to close its doors for good. In 2007, Eirik (Phlogiston) and myself (Disasterpeace) started Pause to create a home for ourselves and some of our favorite musicians to release music to the public. In 6 years, the internet has changed quite drastically, and we can safely say that our mission was a success, and that we're leaving at a time when access to chipmusic, and tools for musicians in general, have never been better. Many of those who were affiliated with Pause in the past have continued to succeed with great projects of their own, including the excellent netlabels Ubiktune (http://ubiktune.org/), Telefuture (http://telefuturenow.com/), and Pterodactyl Squad (http://ptesquad.com/), all of which are worth checking out.

Our collection will remain online for as long as humanly possible, so that those who never had the opportunity to explore our catalogue may do so. Thank you to everyone who joined in our efforts to create a home for our music, and shared in its appreciation. Much love and respect!
