This is correct.  I have only played Japanese original game boy games on a game boy color, but i frequently read that all of the game boy line is region-free.  The original game boy advance is a good match for that case.  If you decide you don't want it i can trade something for it.  I have a few games i am not likely to ever play.  If you are going to import, might as well go for this (but if it were me I would never unbox it, so just send me the case )

IIRC none of Nintendo's handhelds were reigon-locked until the DSi/3DS, so playing US games on a JP CGB shouldn't be a problem.

A clear color came out only in Japan.

there are japan-only clear GBCs, they aren't super hard to find. (ebay has quite a few)

and then the atomic (clear) purple ones, and those are everywhere.

make sure you get an ags-001 if you decide to do this mod.

I dont know if a clear one was made. the only aftermarket case i have seen was blue. maybe kitsch would make some clear ones.
