I will take on a serious name when i start releasing music, djcactus was more of a fuck around i have gameboys and nintendo ds.  Now more so i do random audio work for people in my free time, usually de-essing or light compressing on vocals.  It is what it is.

like i said, if i was releasing music out of my rig i would probably have a better name then this, its more of a handle at this point.

I like to use different artist names for different genres I feel like doing. I like to organize things and to have one artist do minimal dnb and chiptune and electro house and neurofunk just seems too cluttered to me. I think it'd be fun though, to have two artist names and have them collab or something and get people to believe that they both aren't you.

I guess Ateno is your real name and that it defines how seriously you approach relationships.

For a Broken Earth was the title of an album I never made and is now the soundcloud page I used to catch the majority of my misc ideas. Then I have 2 other artist names I use for unrelated projects, and there have been numerous other for short lived projects, collabs ect.

Names a name, not necessarily an identity. If you got to know some one who called themselves george, and then they have a name change to become barry, they're still the same person you knew.

For all intents and purposes, an "artist name" is just that. It does seem kinda messed up to just throw away relationships completely just for the sake of a new name, but w/e. Everybody has their own reasons.

Just dont use words like 8-bit, chip, chiptune, mario, gameboy, etc in your name if you want to look cool and chip professional...it's not 2006 anymore hahaha

I do this all the time, but I make lots of different kinds of music. I like to share my stuff online with friends to get opinions ("This pretty is cool!" or "It sounds like it's missing something."), so throwaways are good for that. It's not like I have a following or anything. I used to DJ house parties for fun, and people would chant my embarrassing DJ name sometimes when they were super trashed. Don't pick corny names when you play out, and don't use turntables at houses with shitty wood trampoline floors and people who like to dance.

Coming up with a moniker is great, it's like getting a shitty drunk prison tat that you can scratch off later!
I also vaguely enjoy the challenge of finding a good unused vanity URL.

I see... Well, to echo what others have said, there's nothing wrong with throwing away aliases. Heh, maybe if you have hardcore fans, they'll be able to note the similarities between your projects, anyway. Like people keep trying to find afx/aphex twin/polygon window/power-pill/the tuss(?). But if it is a bad alias, it's good to be able to throw it away, I guess.
