Michael's Music says:
Jansaw, thanks. I use soundfonts, such as the Yamaha S-YXG50, anything that works for the intended effect. There's a learning curve to becoming proficient with the program itself, to be sure, but I've developed workarounds over the years. As well, you can also export to MIDI and then work on those creations in another program of your choosing. With regards to music-creation, you are only limited by the tools available and your knowledge of how to maximize their potential.

Some people here - most I would assume - are adept with trackers, and hey, more power to them. But I find those too cumbersome.

Fudgers, heh, thanks. Hey, works for me.

Michael's Music says:
JodyBigFoot, that's an interesting way of looking at it. I had decided upon several concepts to build soundtracks around. First up is a 16-bit style baseball game.

https://soundcloud.com/mi-chael-15/sets … made-for-a

Next is a soundtrack for an action/beat-'em-up style game. I composed these five tracks in three days, in order to test my own efficiency.

https://soundcloud.com/mi-chael-15/sets … ction-beat

Here are several dungeon themes.

https://soundcloud.com/mi-chael-15/sets … le-dungeon

Finally, an RPG soundtrack based around the concept of Phantasy Star II.

https://soundcloud.com/mi-chael-15/sets … rack-based
