I'm planning to do something similar with the chipwin comp; I don't expect to be selected for it but hopefully the track I submit will be a good start on writing prog stuff again for a new album—it's been over three years since I've written any prog songs, but people like you and Tuberz McGee are getting me interested in writing prog again..

"Axis" is the certainly the definitive album track, but Surveillance is probably my overall favorite track because it's straight forward, has great vocals, and a killer guitar solo. "Halo of Dust" deserves a special mention because it's very ambitious yet ultimately successful as a brand new style of chiptune instrumental track. It's not a dance tune nor a standard rock tune, but a prog rock journey that explores all sorts of emotions and instrumentation (the strings!) without overstaying its welcome. I haven't been a big Dream Theater fan in years, but "Halo of Dust" hits me on Lunaria much like how "Stream of Consciousness" hit me on Dream Theater's "Train of Thought." It's a well thought-out, orchestrated instrumental that seems to define the whole album's aesthetic within three-and-a-half minutes.

In fact, I think this album's overall aesthetic is important to note because it pulls Danimal Cannon away from "chiptune guitar shredder" into something completely of its own: some type of "chiptune symphonic space prog metal." When an album refuses to be categorized into a specific genre yet is still able to tell a consistent story, I feel that needs to be universally recognized as some type of artistic achievement-and I feel that's exactly what "Lunaria" succeeds in doing very, very well.

Really into Axis, Behemoth, Collision Event and Coalesce especially. Very adventurous. Some extremely inspired-sounding stuff here. This evokes a whole world for me that goes well beyond the "chip/metal fusion" concept. The cover art is important for setting the tone, but it's surprising how far the album roams from those roots. Also, really pushes the limits in terms of production (great blend of guitar + chip + sometimes vocals).
