Yeah, getting a replacement screen would work. The entire front board is replaced, so there's no issue that the old screen is destroyed. I would recommend the RIPS v3 kit. There's also the "Retro Pixel" kit which emulates the look of an old school LCD with grid lines. The downside of the Retro Pixel is that the image is slightly larger and you need to trim the shell slightly to open up the viewport. I am not sure, but i will definitely go into modern day solutions just because technology is old, only thing i will keep is trusty C64

I was afraid you were gonna say that. Are you sure ? No place I can get a replacement LCD or one of those modded screens with backlight or something ?

I did exact same thing with one of Gameboys, you can do probably nothing, buy another one and be careful. From 4 Gameboys i have now only one which works well, just remember that it is 30 years old hw. Looking into future, i will probably buy one or two of those new analogue.co Pockets, just in case if that last my Gameboy die.

I'm new to the forum and I have been trying to repair an original Gameboy I found. It had a problem with vertical lines being missing so tried the fix of remelting the solder at the bottom of the screen however the protective tape cover thing came away and the pins underneath are damaged so now I have no idea what to do.

Any suggestions ?
