I've noticed an uptick in arexx interest within the last few weeks on multiple forums after decades of no one bothering, specifically with the db plugs. Genuinely curious - where is this sudden interest coming from? YouTube influencer? Coincidence?

NSM_075 goes in your Work directory. i originally grabbed it from here http://heim.ifi.uio.no/~ksvalast/nsm/in … hive.khtml
NSM goes in your octamed ss ditrectory. this is simply a directory containing the cha_ nsm plugins for octamed
Octamed_NSM goes in your octamed ss directory. this is the nsm patched version of octamed 1.03c. i also got this from the above address
Octamed#! goes wherever you want. this is just a script i made to make life easier. it starts octamed.

first, check the script (Octamed#!) and make whatever changes to it that match the paths of your octamed directory. mine is in "Work:Octamed_Sounstudio". it basically assigns the location of octamed, runs rexxmast, runs the nsmport, assigns the directory containing the plugins, and then runs the patched version of octamed. theres a couple of other lines in there commented out with ; the original nsm documentation suggested to copy all of the plugins to ram... but my amigas don't have much ram to spare so i changed it. --- btw, i highly recommend to do any editing to text files on the amiga itself. windows/mac tend to really mess up the formatting of text. simply open the script with the amiga editor 'ed', ie execute command "ed work:octamed_sounstudio/octamed#!"

next make sure the script is set to open with the default tool "c:iconx" otherwise it wont execute

if everything looks ok so far then just 2x click Octamed#! - it will do everything in the script and the patched version of octamed should start. i use the cha_bassdrum plugin below because its the easiest to test. choose amigados shell from the octamed menu

change to the assigned nsm directory (nsm:), check the usage of whatever plugin you want to run and run it. the nsm plugins have some documentation included with them

if you did everything right you should have a new bassdrum in instrument slot 1

if you want, you can test cha_filter on the created bassdrum from inst slot 1 > 2... cha_filter 1 2 res bp f 180 q 9 v 20
[boost the bass, increase volume x20]

if you dont have a flash or hard drive in your amiga then you will have to find some other way to get it working. if you have any problems let me know + i'll help you out.

... now if anyone knows how to disable the splash screen when starting octamed that'd be awesome

That would be cool. I believe there was a manual add-on as well, which may or may not be in this folder. It's been years since I bothered to look through the guides.

If you or anyone else manages to figure out the process of how to get cha_filter working, PLEASE let me know.
