kineticturtle says:
WAIT SHIT

Okay I just made the connection. This is Matt from The Glowing Stars - we totally gawked over your tape packaging design and ordered the tape and everything for the Volume 1 comp you guys made, then when we played a show together and I talked to you while you were DJing at Ground Kontrol, and I still never made the connection. Hah!

Well it was lovely having played with you and I wish the most success for these events! I still think it's an awesome idea.

Battery Powered Music says:
FACEBOOK post - http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=197856083594938

Monday, June 27 · 9:00pm - 11:00pm

Backspace
511 NW Couch
Portland, Oregon

Battery Powered Music is a bimonthly meetup of battery powered music makers.

Battery Powered Music hosts Greightbit tonight. A talented bender, and Gameboy modder in the thick of the chiptune music movement. Just back from Blip Fest NYC 2011, he comes to kick it with us tonight, throw down some jams and join the fracus.

Check out his work and his shop here - http://www.greightbit.com/

Inspired by “conversations, late night jam sessions, and months of headphone composition and production, Jesse Garcia, Elias Foley and an evolving cast of engineers, players, technicians and producers took these ideas and have been expanding upon them using ensemble based improvisation and collaborative development. Other notable founding members are Doug Smith, one of the founding members of Pink Martini, and Kranky recording artist Tim Gray (aka Ethernet).”

With goals of supporting “upcoming independent producers” in “an atmosphere of experimentation and co-creation” that will “encourage production of electronic music using affordable battery-powered instruments,”

get a taste of the sounds at http://soundcloud.com/tamarack/sets/bpmarchive

Plus for all you electro-engineers or circuit-bent hobbyists, it gets geekier:
Battery powered music production is an expansion set for the well-established genre of HYPERLINK "http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chiptune" chiptune. As for how this differs from chiptune…well chiptune was a genre built around that pulse wave sound of the 8 bit chips in the earlier gaming systems, handhelds and PCs. Battery powered music welcomes this rich classic sounds and also invites the polyphony of voices available in bent instruments/toys & the newer 16 bit battery-powered musical systems. We are interested in innovations in battery power, rechargeable technologies.
