So... I took apart the Tribe to attempt some drum mods. I soldered a couple points and had everything working as I liked. Out of nowhere the power lashed on (the batteries were in since I had just tested it). At the moment of flash,mthere was no soldering going on, and unit had been off. It now will not power on at all. I am posting here hoping that someone has a suggestion on how to fix. I followed this thread a while back regarding issues people had while trying to install a midi mod, and so I thought I'd probe the folks that pass through. ANY though or help is greatly appreciated.

Just wanna say I love the monotribe's sound. So this MIDI extension sounds epic.

Did you put a resistor on the signal wire, though? That's highly recommended for protection...

Finally added MIDI to my Monotribe today - I just soldered onto the pins of the serial connector (as opposed to the solder pads, making the whole thing easier), and threaded the wires through the little hole to attach a dongle or something to it. Lots of tape and a jack on the end, works fine! hahah

It's a little ghetto, but way way easier than drilling holes and dismantling the entire thing

Yeah, I saw that.. It was on eBay for 75$ I think? Way, waaayyy too much. Like, ridiculous price.

I think I'm gonna copy the thing with taking the wires out of the bottom though! I'm a bit sketchy with drilling a huge hole in the side of the metal case.

thanks a lot nitro! I didn't want to waste my wave channel, so I was figuring a way to use the noise. The only way I could figure it would play only one step was with a K01 command, but that wasn't enough on a lower bpm. Putting the O command on the table was the genius step for making a perfect click, thanks!

Yeah, it was just the ribbon cable wasn't QUITE fully in. Like, a couple mm out? And yeah, that caused all the problems haha. So make sure you put it back together well!

Also worth mentioning that my DMG is prosounded pre-pot - where the volume control won't affect it - and so it's louder and punchier than DMGs prosounded from the pot or afterwards. This may have some bearing on whether or not it works for you, so experimentation is the key really.

mind if I ask you how did you make this noise instrument for the clicks? I tried a bunch of different settings, some of them work great, but when I change the BPM everything fucks up.

I guess I'll have to put up with using tape or blue tack to hold the switch down then, haha.

No, it's just a momentary switch. What I said about the switch going off when pressed all the way in, was a theory of how your switch might have failed in such a way that the unit turns off when you release the button.
