Well, 8bp is a label, so they don't have just anyone uploading...

Problem is though, a lot of the music uploaded here is a work-in-progress, where artists are looking to get constructive criticism/people's opinions on where the song should go next. We'd be left with a comp of unfinished song.
A better idea might be, nearer the time of putting together the comp, people can submit a track via the forums to be considered, and then the mods group together and choose their favourites to be released.

download the songs and put them on CD yourself, this would only cause drama

Pick out the ones that don't use LSDJ or Game Boys at all, amiritelol? *high five*

No seriously, I'd be fine with a select few staff members picking out the best tunes. The Daft P{unk cmp was awesome and a similar approach was taken.

basically, if anything of this sort is going to happen, ever, itll be put together by the site staff in some way or another...myself and another staff member already briefly talked about a similar idea to this before the site even launched, but its waaaaay too early to worry about this, and if the time comes, you wont have to be one of the people figuring out how to implement it

how does 8bit peoples deal with his issue maybe we can borrow their idea or improve on it?

There is way too much material being uploaded to implement this idea IMO - consider how many tracks will be uploaded after a whole year...

So solution will be have CD with:

AUDIO CD DATA - best songs by voting
COMPUTER DATA - All year collection of MP3 or maybe NES, SID tunes etc etc

So everybody will be happy...

Label... Well best will be to have original CDs. You know beautiful pixelart booklet printed on quality paper and beautiful CD layer.

But when it will piss lot of people. You can realise just ISO format and PDF with CD cover and booklet.
Everybody can print it and make its own CD.

But perfect will be have 15-25USD CD for sale. And some t-shirts maybe too... for gigs, shows... in little shop.

PS: And now lets track some nice tunes rather than talk about this...

Cannot agree more.  While this "best of" album is a fun idea, there is no real way to go about it well.

Can we worry about this maybe around november/december? :-D
For now, let's just concentrate on making sweet tunes!

Voting will only lead to the most voted to be selected, not the best tracks.
The only way to get a "best of" is to have someone or a group of people selecting it.

maybe we could sell it at like a shop page of the website or maybe even send it to itunes hmm you do raise a great point though...

it sounds like an awesome idea at first, but basically this would turn chipmusic into a netlabel... and probably piss everybody off.
