I've already taken care of that by using a 5v power source; a spliced USB cable and a junk laptop (for now). (Which I needed anyway.)

munchluxe83, I don't know what your project consists of, but if you're planning to use a regular link cable to connect to your project, and also tap power off of the Gameboy, you need a modded cable plug to do that reliably. The cables typically do not carry the +5V pin from one end to the other. If this is the case, use half a cable for your project and connect the wires inside your box.

I might have a firewire port hanging around somewhere (dunno if it fits yet), but it would be nice to get that part number.

Would the ports out of the DMG-07 four player adaptor work? If so I have 6 I can send you. I'll just send the whole thing and let you unsolder them cause that crap sucks when you don't have a workin desolder. Lol

stripping them from dead units is your best bet.

it might be easier to find them if you open your search up for dead back PCBs, i'm sure people have them around and could help you out.

although, that part is something i'm working on having manufactured.  it'll be several months though, so doesn't help now.

alternatively, you can use a 6-pin firewire port, i've done this before.  there is a kobiconn one whose footprint is almost the same, if you'd like a part # i can track it down.  you'd just need to change the ports on your gameboys to the firewire type, and use them on your project as well.  then you can use the standard 6-pin firewire cables.  worked great for me doing a project probably similar to yours...
