That's an awesome idea!
It just came to my mind that If I use my wii for the gig, I could split the video signal. One goes to a small tv for me to use, and the second could go to the VJ's computer, so he could "glitch it" and use it... but that's just easier said than done.

if that's so, then working on the day using the lappy and then pulling an all-nighter composing on the wii, while laying on the bed seems the way to go!

It was a last minute idea during a friend's party a while back and we hadn't thought to record it. :s
I intend to do it again soon though, just gotta practice some more...

Or if your compy's bluetooth compatible, use GlovePIE to configure a Wiimote to control it. heh.

Not to mention you could use a USB Game controller (if you can find one $14 bucks at radio shack) or XBOX 360 controller if you find the keyboard to be awkward.

honestly man, do what's easiest. the difference is so minute that you wont even notice it. If you like sitting at a desk and hitting away at a keyboard, use your computer. if you like sitting on your couch mastering through tv speakers, then use your wii.

I've used VBAGX on the Wii before, and while it sounds great, if you try to play along with anything else, you suddenly realize how horribly out of tune it is. Other than that, it sounds fine.

I once added a Wii to my set, emulating MuddyGB through VBAGX and controlling it with a DDR pad.
While I played a keyboard along with LSDJ/DS-10.
It looked ridiculous, but it was amazing and everyone loved it.

If you're going to emulate, which there are legitimate causes for doing, then BGB is the way to go. There's no real reason to use a less accurate emulator unless the alternative is that much more convenient.

Why are you debating over pc or wii instead of just getting a cart?

wouldn't know about it, but schism tracker is there. Being impulse tracker based, I would say is a good choice.
There's also wii linux, which might as well be useful, I guess.

SID is the hardest chip to get right, partly as an effect of its design- once you're really used to it, the different revisions of SID have different tones to them, and you can change the tone yourself by replacing the capacitor it uses for filtering.

I think the most correct way to consider using emulation instead of actual hardware for your music are latency issues and if the sound you get as end result is what you want. Being "correct" can be beside the point for what many of us do as musicians, it's more important to consider if you are actually getting the sound you want.

okay so ive been curious about something. i use my wii a lot, mainly due to how easy installing homebrew is, and was wondering kinda the same thing except not with gb emulators. im thinking that if the wii can emulate c64, atari ST, amiga, zx, and has a dosbox port can any of these run trackers and sound fairly accurate? i suppose i could try myself but just curious if anyone else knew, i dont have much experience with stuff outside of gb's and sunvox so i might not have the best ears for the job.
