SketchMan3 says:
Sweet. Rockin' that Bonk's Adventure Boss theme vibe with a li'l Kung Fu thrown in. I dig it. (^.^)b

I agree that this would sound great with some stronger drums. If it was just video game music, it'd be fine, but it's not. So it needs to kick my face at least a little bit. The lower hi-hat tone sounds a bit crusty. It would probably make a good compliment to a pulse+noise snare... I really like the higher-pitched one, though (the one just before the snare). But what do I know? That's just my personal preference.

It's repetitive in a good way.

The biggest problem I have with drums is the kick. It's made with both triangle and noise and the volume of the triangle can't be controlled. I could use a sampled drum for kick but the volume of triangle channel goes lower when a sample plays on the DPCM channel.

Adding a bit more noise might not hurt it too much. Maybe. Also, imo, I think having a stronger kick is worth losing that first note of the triangle bass line. I can barely discern it as it is. It doesn't have to be a long kick, and if it only lasts for the duration of the first note, you still have all the rest of the triangle notes intact at full volume, right? And you get a nice ducking effect to boot.

Perhaps you don't like this remixes, and also the license says "no derivated works". I just did it becouse I like your song, and I have some fun with it.

Anyway now I'm curious about your friends original song, where can we lisent it?

Nappi says:
defiantsystems, I could try that out. The biggest problem I have with drums is the kick. It's made with both triangle and noise and the volume of the triangle can't be controlled. I could use a sampled drum for kick but the volume of triangle channel goes lower when a sample plays on the DPCM channel. I thought about adding some variety to the drums but I forgot what I actually wanted to add there
And thanks a lot for the link, I shall check out the topic now.

hutsvold, I'm totally fine with people remixing my stuff and such, even if the remix is bad (I'm not saying that yours is). It makes me feel pretty complimented because it usually shows that he/she likes the song. But yeah, what you posted is a pretty interesting take on the remix. The sound of the guitar is a bit too rough for my tastes but for some reason I liked the thing around 1:08. And you don't need to remove it so don't worry ^^

Maybe I should change the license thing because I really didn't think about it much when I uploaded it. Also, do you know is it ok or against the rules to link the song my friend made into the description of the song because as I said in the description, my friend made the first melody and we both decided to compose our own songs based on it and I think some people could be interested to hear how the other song sounds like for the comparison.

defiantsystems says:
Make the drums a bit stronger and I think you have a great track here.
Nappi says:
Hi. I decided to upload another song I have made.

I decided to go with VRC6 this time since I needed those extra channels for the background melody and bass boost. I also wanted to go without DPCM samples this time since it lowers the volume of triangle.
I also felt like this is good enough to upload and I'm pretty surprised that I actually finished this song even though it's pretty repetitive. I do have a problem with running out of inspiration and it bugs me a lot. So I'd apprecciate some tips or anything on that subject. Or if there's a topic about here, you could give me a link. Or something.
But back to the point, here's the song http://chipmusic.org/nappi/music/chip-32
