Corrosion will eat through the copper traces. Sounds like you need to clean your battery contacts, add a few wire jumpers and remove the corrosion.

Hi all,

I dug out my DMG-01 from the loft recently, actually I can't remember how I got hold of this one, but it was years back - anyway. Powered it on and it had a few issues, no speaker sound (but jack is ok), a/c power cutting on/off so using batteries, and after about 30 minutes use the screen starts to fade. So, decided to open it up and here is what I found...I am new to the inner workings of the GB, any thoughts, does it look recoverable?
