low-gain says:
in response to those worried about using consoles w/ guitar amps, etc.

Guitar amp, Bass amp, keyboard amp.. they're all the same and will accept a console level signal.

The gain structures are set up differently on the amps, but the frequency responses are going to be very similar on guitar amps/bass amps..
most of the differences are EQ topology.

Just watch your output volume on your dmg, or nes, or what ever.. if your amp is set to a low volume (low gain, har har har), and you're hearing distortion/fuzz, you're probably creaming the pre-amp section of the guitar amp and need to lower your output volume of your source device.

other then that.. depending on the speakers that are in the amp... your sound quality will very...

to prove my point... one of the most commonly used guitar amps on the planet is a fender bassman..
It came out as a bass amp... guitarists started using it because it sounded great.

i'll say this time and time again.. just use what you have and try to make due with what you have.. if you have a guitar amp and a gameboy.. sweet.. go and rock out. :-D try not to stress.. just dont turn it too 11 and blow your ears and your amp out.. and always use ear protection.

arottenbit says:
I used to do a lot of street performances using a portable guitar amp. (a roland micro cube).
The only problem is that a guitar amp is not built for techno kicks and noise channel snares.. so now, after an year of usage, it sounds like shit and i had to buy a new one.

Rei Yano says:
I was planning on doing exactly this. console to amp. however I am afraid of blowing something out. maybe the amp or the console itself (I know jack shit about how electronics work). is it perfectly safe to hook a console to an amp? I am too afraid to hook my Ipod Touch to one as well....

low-gain says:
if you have any soldering skills.. take a stereo 1/8" to 1/8" male.. cut off one end.. take your L and R wires and solder 1k resistors in series with each signal wire on one side of each resistor. Then take the other sides of the resistors and solder them together to your Tip of the 1/4" plug.
then connect ground as normal. That will sum Left and Right so that you dont have channel loss from panning. and it's all enclosed in 1 cable!

Similar to this (this is a 3 to 1 mixer, the stereo to mono is basically a 2 to 1)
