you could maybe try some of the modder's sites, like justinthursday. if your friend is just using it for reference, they can just the colors and backlights pretty easily.

How so? The battery LED is dead (or too dim to be visible) and the DMG is running ZOMG GAEMS, but other than that I don't see a problem.
