I have a fairly used Super Gameboy system that I use often for lsdj (when i feel like making music on a larger screen), and all of a sudden a few days ago whenever I put in any gameboy cartridge the super gameboy would start up as normal, and then when the game tried to load, the whole screen shakes and flickers. any ideas?  I would open it up but im not gutsy enough to try the bic pen trick and i dont have one of those special screwdrivers.

Could be your Super Gameboy not recognizing the cart. I've had weird issues with Super Gameboy using an EMS cart but after a quick reset or re-cart-insertion it fixes itself.

Well, thanks for the input. I'll just hope it fixes itself.  But even with Metroid II: Return of Samus, it goes all flickery and shakes. Any ideas?

Could use a cleaning? These things are pretty old and sounds like from the way you described it "a fairly used Super Gameboy" could be dirty on the inside.

I found the problem! It wasnt the super gameboy at all, it was just the video input on my tv.  I just changed to the coaxial cable and rf switch and it works fine.
