All of my pro-sounds are just 3.5mm aka 1/8" TRS jack and three strands of ribbon cable soldered to ground, pot input left, and pot input right. I don't see why it ever has to be more complex than that.

I suggest you to use the pre-pot wiring, and bypass de volume potentiomenter. If you use a mixer, you can control de volume there, and you'll get the loudest volume avaliable by default

It will use the original jack and mute the speaker.
You can use any jack (with an additional pin for speaker muting) as long as you wire it the same.

Agreed. I just learned about this, and I think I'm going to redo my older pro-sounds that left the volume pot in the circuit.
I much prefer it with the pre-pot wiring.
just tape the volume control in place if you are worried about knocking it while playing?
