It's called Earthbound 0 (to lames), in japan it's Mother.
Personally, I have a ton of problems getting the rom to work, so I just play the version on the GBA remake/ports of Mother 1+2. It was translated to english by the same fan community that did the Mother 3 translation.

maybe you should try the proto version of the rom instead of the zero rom. it wont have zero on the title screen. the one with the white zero on the title screen is not very playable as it sets off the piracy things, you either need the blu frozen looking zero, or the one without the word zero

no they don't.
You're saying Mother 1 for the Famicom is called Earthbound, and that people who "aren't in the know" call it Earthbound Zero, while people who ARE "in the know" call it Earthbound.
Earthbound was the only game in the series released outside of Japan. This is Mother 2. Not Earthbound 2. There can't be 2 Earthbounds.
