i have collected quite a bit of chip hardware and i have never written a single song on any of it
for me a good tracker and a qwerty keyboard can't be beaten. plus the convenience of doing it all from your PC which you can use for other stuff too

i have a couple of vintage roland synths that i honestly feel like i have no business owning but they kinda just came into my possession (i.e. i didn't buy them). i like recording hardware synths but don't do it often enough. acoustic hardware is another story, though.
